Historical

Adventure

If adventure, treks, rafting, et al is your thing then The Serai, in Chikmagalur is your ideal luxury base station, geographically located as it right in the middle of some exciting and fun adventure options. Location

The Serai Chikmagalur stands on a piece of barren land within the plantation, surrounded by, yet not impinging on, the fertile area of the estate.

Employment

To encourage local talent, increase local employment opportunities and improve the local economy, the residents of the rural areas adjoining our resort are trained and employed in various capacities on our estates, factories and resorts. Destitute women and the physically challenged of the rural areas also contribute by making and manufacturing fixtures in our resort.

Usage of local material

True to Coffee Day's values, waste wood from the plantations have been, and will be, extensively used for the interiors and furniture. Also building material indigenous to the area have been used.

Water recycling

Waste water from our resorts is filtered and recycled to irrigate vegetation in and around each resort

Rain water harvesting

The Serai Chikmagalur has rain water harvesting systems in place to provide supplemental water for their requirements, to increase soil moisture levels, and improve ground water table levels.

Recreation

If you are more of the outdoor type, we have specially organised plantation walks. Guides will clue you in to the intricacies of nature, the trees, creepers, the various crops and, of course, coffee! For those seeking fresh, new perspectives on coffee, other plantation or coffee works visits could be organised, too! and if you are not the adventurous frame of mind, you can relax in the infinity pool or play a game of billiards at the resort itself. Fitness freaks can work up a sweat at the fully-equipped gym, or choose to cycle or jog on the track around the resort, or a cross country run, too, if you so wish. We have play options for kids too, with an American air hockey table and two foosball tables in the children's play room.
